This is my comic for my home learning. This is in a library, where a person is reading a book sitting down. Then the librarian went up to tell him to move to somewhere else to sit, then the boy told him to keep quiet because this is a library.

Messy Room

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater's been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!

Donald or Robert or Willie or--

Huh? You say it's mine? Oh, dear,

I knew it looked familiar!

I personally think that the poet is quick to push the blame to others. It is normal for people to quickly push the blame away to somebody, because everyone does not want to get scolded or suffer the consequences if we do a wrongdoing. However, taking the consequences is better than pushing the blame away to an innocent person, because if one gets a punishment, he will learn that he will not do the same thing again and hence, turn over a new leaf. However, if he kept on pushing the blame to others, like in this poem, the poet made the room very unorganized and did not take good care of his own things, but still push the responsibility to others. This is not a good thing as this will led the innocent one to be very upset, and you yourself will also be very sorry for yourself and the innocent person, besides you will not learn from your mistakes. By escaping from the truth, how are you going to serve the nation and the society?

By right, getting scolded is a good thing because you learn, but if you push the blame to others, you are not only lying to others, you are also lying to yourself.

Poems by Shel Silverstein - Part 1 - The Little Boy and the Old Man

Shel Silverstein is a great poet. He is known for his 'tongue-in-cheek' humour, but because he manages to convey a deep and profound meaning about human realtionships through his poems.

The Little Boy and the Old Man

Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."

Said the old man, "I do that too."

The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants."

"I do that too," laughed the little old man.

Said the little boy, "Sometimes I cry."

The old man nodded, "So do I."

"But most of all," said the old boy, "it seems

Grown-ups don't pay attention to me."

And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.

"I know what you mean," said the little old man.

This poem is about the conversation between a little boy and the old man. The little boy is neglected by the grown-ups, so is the old man. The message is conveyed that grown ups did not think about their future, and also did not pay attention to the little boy. They will become old too, but they did not show a good model to their children, who may just treat them like how they treated the old man. Hence, they should care for young and old. The poet used this conversation between the little boy and the old man to have a comparison between them.

Discrimination

Discrimination happens all over in our society.

So what does discrimination means?

It means making a distinction in favour of or against a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than individual merit.

Discrimination can be based on a lot of things, such as:

1. Age,

2. Breastfeeding,

3. Race,

4. Religion,

5. Disability,

6. Marital status,

7. Parental status,

8. Family responsibilities,

9. Physical features,

10. National origin,

11. Language,

12. Sexual orientation,

13. Pregnancy,

14. Political belief,

15. Economical status,

16. Sex,

17. Skin colour,

etc.

Discriminating others is not a good thing because this may cause someone to be very upset and may not be able to interact or cooperate with each other.

This blog is for my Language Arts (mostly literature) lessons' reviews such as poems etc. In my opinion, I think that literature is very interesting however tough for me because my English is not very strong as compared to my classmates.
